Ask the experts
Since 1992, the HHT Foundation has been very fortunate to have a Scientific and Medical Advisory Board. This board is composed of leading scientists and a multi-disciplinary group of physicians who treat HHT patients on a regular basis. Members from this Advisory board are available to answer questions and offer advice. This site exists so you will have the most comprehensive information available to discuss with your own health care professional.
Response Goal
It is our goal to respond to your questions in a timely fashion. Please help us by recognizing that these scientist and physicians are extremely busy professionals. Before posting your question, please search Frequently Asked Questions to make sure your request, or one similar to it, has not already been answered.
You should NEVER wait until your question is answered to seek medical care. When in doubt contact your doctor.
Medical Disclaimer
It is extremely important to remember that this service is not provided to replace the care that you are receiving and is not intended as medical advice, but rather is the expert opinion of one professional. You should never make medical decisions based on the guidance of the Ask-the-Expert column without the support and approval of your health care professional. When in doubt contact your doctor. It is important to be able to speak freely with your health care provider.
The HHT Foundation presents all data as is, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, and is not liable for its accuracy, for mistakes or omissions of any kind, nor for any loss or damage caused by a user’s reliance on information obtained on the site. Professional opinions on this condition vary greatly
Legal Issues
Our mission is to work together with researchers and physicians to ensure the best quality of care. At times, either attorneys or individuals may contact the HHT Foundation regarding legal action against a physician. The HHT Foundation does not encourage, discourage or participate in litigation in any way.
Doctors on our medical board or at our HHT Centers of Excellence may review medical histories to help you understand more fully what happened. These services are usually for a fee and would need to be arranged directly with the doctors themselves. We will not forward any emails. It is important to know that there is no universally accepted standard of care and the diagnosis and treatment of HHT can be complex.
